In June 2008, Marty & Deb Essen traveled north to both the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge (ANWR) and Prudhoe Bay.
Watch your local newspaper this fall for Marty's op-ed about the trip, Arctic Eyewitness. Numerous newspapers have already picked it up. Here's a link to Arctic Eyewitness, where it ran on September 14, 2008, as the Sunday Viewpoints cover story in the Buffalo News(Buffalo, NY).
Here's what President Jimmy Carter wrote to Marty Essen after reading Arctic Eyewitness: "Thanks for the excellent op-ed. Let's all remain vigilant!"
Marty has also added a new Arctic National Wildlife Refuge section to his popular digital slide show, Around the World in 90 Minutes.
Here are some photos from Marty & Deb's adventure. Notice the difference between Prudhoe Bay (where the oil companies are) the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge (where the oil companies want to drill). These locations are only 120 miles apart!
